You’ve battled the construction, heard the hype, and wondered when it will finally be here. A streetcar is coming to Kansas City, slowly but surely (of course, it feels like slowly more than anything).
Located in the middle of the much talked about streetcar plan, our office is excitedly awaiting its arrival, expected in late 2015 or early 2016.
Once the streetcar joins hits the streets the newest form of public transport for KC will run two miles on Main Street, to Crown Center, to the River Market. Kansas Citians making their morning commute downtown from near-areas of the city will have the opportunity to hop on and off in the mornings and evenings. The car will make its way past businesses, incredible restaurants, all the way down to Union Station. It hits some of Kansas City’s hottest spots! Our office is hoping that one day they’ll extend it to Westport.

THE BEST PART ABOUT THE SCREETCAR
It’s free! The KC streetcar will run without a fare to maximize use. Users will be able to ride during the following hours:
- Monday-Thursday: 6AM-Midnight
- Friday: 6AM-2AM
- Saturday: 7AM-2AM
- Sunday: 7AM-10PM
The convenient hours make the streetcar not only perfect for morning commutes but for people wanting a safe ride to and from going out on the weekends downtown. The streetcars will run a loop so that each stop only has to wait ~15 minutes for the next ride.
If you’re having more than just a couple issues with figuring out if your go-to spots are open during this construction, you can download the Open for Business Streetcar App.
We are excited to hop on and off some of the 18 stops just for the heck of it, once KC’s newest project launches.
